Day 9 - Pressing Submit


The day of days has come.


We pressed the Submit button and have an official entry for the Gamdev.TV GameJam 2022. It was one of the most exciting weeks in quite some time & I feel like we've grown quite a bit. Today was all about playtesting, bugfixing & balancing. We managed to get all three things to an acceptable point:

We played several last-longers on different maps in different difficulty settings, figuring out what's overpowered (maybe changed it) and what the best builds could be. We hope everyone playing Project Hexagon in the future will have just as much fun as we do. We already talked about plans post-publish and will most likely revisit this project, as it serves as a very solid foundation for a game, to add expansion & more content:

From an artist perspective we can add a lot of different enemies and add different defender-races to select from, each having their individual set of towers.

A random map generator, maybe a map editor, and a global score for the different maps would be something to work on, so that the competition stays on their toes. Working on different pathfinding, maybe even with non-hexagon maps could be quite cool and challenging - so stay tuned as Project Hexagon will definitely receive some Updates in the future!

For now enjoy, submit some feedback if you like and make sure you don't die too early on the map "Horizontal" - even in Easy mode ;)


GG, was a blast working with Leroy a.k.a. "Shield are OP!" by my side and the game looks truly amazing - having mostly done games with primitive shapes until now this is like 100 leagues above that!
